Yorkshire Air Ambulance flies injured man from centre of Huddersfield

An injured man was flown from the centre of Huddersfield after reports of a fall from a bridge.
The man was airlifted to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance after reports he had fallen from a bridge.
The helicopter landed in the car park of the former Kirklees College campus off New North Parade.
Police at the scene sealed off roads.
Eye-witnesses said the Air Ambulance landed outside the main entrance of the former Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, which formed part of the college campus. The college closed two years ago but part of the site is used as a car park.
Police are investigating the incident.
They confirmed the incident happened shortly before 8pm at the bridge over the Castlegate stretch of the ring road a couple of hundred yards past the New North Parade turn-off by the former College.
A spokesman said: “We were called at 7.59pm by the ambulance service to a man in his 60s who had fallen from a bridge at Fitzwilliam Street in Huddersfield.
“The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with serious injuries.”
