A Golcar teenager sexually assaulted a female police officer while tripping on a legal high similar to LSD.
Liam Smith, of Upper Wellhouse, later emailed the officer to apologise for his behaviour.
The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.
The attack happened in the Holmfirth area on May 15.
Police and paramedics were called to a street over concerns for Smith’s health.
During the incident the teenager groped one of the female officers over her clothing, leaving her feeling distressed.
The Huddersfield court heard that Smith had no previous convictions or cautions.
Prosecutor Bill Astin said that Smith later sent an email containing a “full and frank apology” to his victim.
The teenager bowed his head and wept throughout the brief proceedings.
Jonathan Slawinski, mitigating, said that the offence occurred due to his client taking a legal high form of LSD.
The new form of synthetic drug has recently been made illegal under the Psychoactive Substances Act.
Smith was also under the influence of alcohol and had taken cannabis at the time.
He was described as having had a problem with the class B drug for some time.
