Postal deliveries are still suspended to a number of houses in the Meltham area after a postman was savaged in the street by a dog.
The attack occurred as a post worker called Jack, who is in his 20s, delivered mail in Golcar Brow Road last Friday.
The dog had jumped over a fence in nearby Copley Avenue and latched onto the man’s arm in an agonising attack lasting several minutes.
It was only when a man called Robert Dickinson, of Copley Avenue, dashed to his aid and hit it with a shovel that it finally let go.
The victim was rushed to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he underwent emergency surgery on his injured arm.
On Tuesday the Examiner reported that deliveries had been suspended to a number of addresses in the area while the incident was investigated.
