Did a ghost set off Huddersfield restaurant the Keys' CCTV? Or is there a rational explanation

This CCTV footage gave owner Paul Wood a fright

The Keys restaurant owner Paul Wood had a fright when a ghostly figure appeared on CCTV during closing hours.
Paul was relaxing at home when his phone bleeped to alert him someone - or something - had set off the cameras in the Byram Street restaurant, which is in the underground crypt ofHuddersfield Parish Church.
Thinking it was a burglar, he glanced at his phone - and was shocked to see the bright white apparition on the screen.
He said: “If something sets the camera off when the restaurant is closed we get pictures sent to my phone, so I can be sitting at home watching the burglar and ringing the police.
“The alarm went off and i saw a ghostly figure walk past.
I have just come out of hospital with a bit of a heart problem so it made me miss a beat!
“I went down and tested the camera and it was working fine.
“The restaurant is a very spooky place - there’s something about it but you can’t put your finger on what it is. You get a bit of a tingle down your spine.
“The floor is made of gravestones. There’s been a church there for about 1,000 years so there’s a bit of scope!
“The church does have access and a couple of days later I found out the curate had let himself in that day. A defect with the camera must have made him look like a ghost, but it’s never happened before.
“But you can see the counter where his legs should be - and strangely, it didn’t pick him up leaving...”
Parish church curate Simon Crook is convinced the figure is him.
He said: “I went down into the crypt to do some photocopying that day and I must have set the alarm off as I went down.

Eyewitnesses reported people running in terror after a scuffle escalated into chaos

Thrillseekers were left running in terror at the Cambridge Road Mega Value Funfair after fears a man had a gun.
The family event escalated into a day from hell on Sunday afternoon after a scuffle led to mass panic.
Police were called to the fair after members of the public reported that a man had a gun, a claim he allegedly made to security after being thrown out after a fight.
The fair’s organiser Alan Cowie said a man drove at staff after being ejected.
A 20-year-old man was later arrested and bailed.
Lindsay Maguire, 33, from Golcar , was at the fair with her daughter when trouble kicked off.
“The first I heard was that there had been a scuffle and someone had been thrown out for punching someone”, she said.
“We saw families running for their lives shouting ‘he’s got a gun’.
“We ran to the furthest point and hid.
“There was only one entrance and exit and everyone was trying to get out, someone had to kick down a gate to let people out.
“We were all petrified. We thought it could be a terrorist attack.”
Witnesses claimed a man had threatened he had the weapon after being kicked out of the fair.

Birkby man jailed for 40 months for dealing crack cocaine and heroin

Police officers found Class A drugs with a street value of more than £7,000 when they searched the bedroom of a man in Birkby.
Leeds Crown Court heard yesterday (Thurs) there was a safe in the attic bedroom used by Harass Chohan and inside 501 wraps of crack cocaine and 120 wraps of heroin were discovered.
That cocaine had a street value of £5,010, and two further separate wraps of cocaine worth around £940 were seized. The heroin had a street value of £1,200.
Alisha Kaye, prosecuting, told the court sets of scales, £862 in cash, two expensive Breitling watches and four mobile phones were seized during the search on April 20.
Chohan refused to give the PIN for the phones so they could not be analysed.
Andrew Dallas, representing Chohan, said because of dyslexia he had struggled at school and college but had eventually completed a course in public services but instead of the future he planned in his late teens he began mixing “with the wrong crowd.”

Driver's warning to others after being landed with parking fine in Asda car park

Fatih Udin got the fine dropped after making his case to car park owner Horizon Ltd but fears others may be hit

A driver who said he was wrongly fined in a supermarket car park has demanded action.
Fatih Udin said that a camera used to monitor cars entering and leaving the Asda Aspley store failed to spot him leaving on a visit, resulting in a £70 charge.
Mr Udin, of Victoria Road in Lockwood, said he had visited the store in his vehicle once in the morning, left in it and returned again in the evening.
But on the fine letter sent to him, car park owner Horizon Ltd alleged that he had left his car in the car park for the entire day, overstaying the one and a half hour limit.
He complained to the company and the charge has been dropped, but was warned in a letter that the same may not happen in the future.
He wants Horizon Ltd to resolve the problem, which he thinks could cause innocent but vulnerable people to pay up out of fear.

“I was really confused when I was sent the letter,” said Mr Udin, 49.
“The entire duration of both my visits was about 20 minutes.
